He, indeed, told the truth. That is EXACTLY what he wants. And I agree with him (other than the fact that I prefer the former condition over the latter.) George Bush has never lied to the American people. The idea that he has is a Goebbels-like Big Lie that is repeated day in and day out in order to convince the weak-minded. The fact that targeting the weak-minded finds fertile ground in the US doesn't make lies into truth. It simply shines a spotlight on the weak-minded...
