Maybe I'm making a false extrapolation here, but this analogy makes sense to me, after reading the Arab press

I think there's a good deal of truth wrt how the Arabs feel, but not nearly so much wrt their actual circumstances. Native Americans have a good excuse for not feeling in control of their governments. What's the Arabs' excuse? Colonialism has been over for over 50 years. Nobody holds a gun to their heads and makes them see Hollywood movies or buy Coca-Cola. And unlike much of the world, which has been seriously held back by poverty and an economic field tilted against agricultural producers, the Arabs have been receiving THE WORLD'S BIGGEST WINDFALL for the last 30 years. What have they done with it?

As for feeling "raped" by Israel, maybe in hindsight it was a bad idea to attack Israel repeatedly and make the Arab/Israeli conflict the centerpiece of their politics. Nobody has suffered from it more than they have.
