You can probably embed ANYTHING in a JPG.
However a JPG is NOT an executable.
It would have to be extracted and run.
JPG files are not executables.
If you can tell me otherwise I stand corrected, but opening a JPG file, an IMAGE graphic file, can not open up and execute a virus IMO.

Again, if you can prove otherwise I will stand corrected.

THe only way for a virus to execute from a jpeg is if there is an extremely large hole in the jpeg display software. Because it is a fairly succinct standard and undoubtedly something that's been poured over 10 trillion times by hackers, it is doubtful it will emerge as a virus transport.

But embedding information is common -- digital watermarks and copyrights and so forth.
