Applied Films Sells 500th Web Coater Tuesday August 19, 9:02 am ET LONGMONT, Colo., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Applied Films Corporation (Nasdaq: AFCO - News) a leading supplier of thin film deposition equipment to the flat panel display (FPD), architectural, automotive and solar, and the consumer products packaging and electronics industries, announced today it has sold its 500th Web Coater to Schoeller & Hoesch, a customer in Europe. For five decades, Applied Films and its predecessors have built vacuum web coaters used in packaging, capacitor and touch panel applications. Applied Films received this order during the current quarter, for a coater designed to metallize precoated papers. Schoeller & Hoesch is recognized as one of the world leaders in tea bag paper, overlay papers, as well as an international supplier of metallized papers for over 24 years. This marks Applied Films' 500th web coater built in its history. The web coater, TOPMET 2250, can handle rolls up to 2,270 mm wide, and up to 1,250 mm in diameter, and is capable of coating at a speed of 1,020 meters per minute.
