Whatever THAT is supposed to mean! > Anyone who has followed France politics (if one is aware of the move from two-party systems to center-based-consensus-multi-party-systems) probably knows - France also uses a lot of singe-seat-districts (the most basic foundation for a two-party-system) - However, France is working hard on achieveing this reform, but - is struggling with a socalled 2-block system, that is, (still) lacking the moderate center - the center, which can offset small extreme parties (this also helps to understand the Le Pen issues in presidential runoffs, but probably more difficult to follow in the regular local and national elections for representatives) This is obviously mirrored in the media, the newspapers, etc, but the situation is far from as bad as in USA. (to demand something extremely "neutral" as CSPAN) Ilmarinen Btw, an old idea is that a functioning media needs - very biased media which is free to suggest any problems and solutions - a platform where these suggestions, problems and solutions can be debated and specifically a third factor - transparency (that is, not just "smoke and mirrors", or just one spin after another, or ontop of both of them) This third factor is what scandinavia sees as a major problem of govrtnmental institutions of France (and EU) as well as the very centralized government (but not as centralized as Washington and USA) PS. One good example is that Discovery Channel withdrew from cooperation with a finnish channel after the "plan" was to have a "specialist platform" discussing the programs afterwards. (but it was fun as long as it lasted, shark week, month of the predator serial cannibal, etc)
