Read Replies (1) | Respond to of 110652 Mr Mark, I appreciate very much your detailed help and apologize for not fully answering your questions. I will try to do so here. (1) the Shdocvw.dll i have is version 6.0.2600.0 (XP client) created 12/6/2001 1.27 mb (2) <<Am I logged in as Administrator?>>. I don't know how to tell. I am the only one logged into this machine or listed for this machine. How do i tell if i am logged in as administrator. my search efforts to find out have not been successful. I think i must be, because i have access to the Administrative tools etc that help identified. (3) you asked if "enable install on demand for IE" and "enable install on demand (other) are checked. both are checked, and i did respond to this twice: initially: Message 19237553 though did not refer very well to what i was responding to. and later: Message 19238841 in the support.microsoft.com article you referenced, it says: For Internet Explorer 6 for Windows XP, no components are installed based on the Enable Install On Demand (Other) option. This option should not appear in the Advanced dialog box in Windows XP. This option does appear in my tools/internet options/advanced/browsing screen. I am running Windows XP home, IE version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 (the IE help does list update versions SP1;Q324929, and 5 others) when i click to download the latest IU file, i AM NOT given the choice to open it, just to save it to download files or other place i choose. The times that i have downloaded, i have had to save it, then launch it from the saved location. again, i very much appreciate the time you spend answering mine and others questions. hope the responses i posted here fully answered the previously asked questions. larry
