Shiites MARCH after Iraqi bomb!!! Message 19241514 <<...l guess when they feel strongly about something they're not afraid to make their views known after all. It seems that when it comes to supporting the occupation that we say is to liberate them, they're not as excited. When will some of us stop nodding "yes" to all the psychobabble misinformation that the Bush administration throws out and accept that the general Iraqi population no longer welcomes us, have not shown that they support our occupation and is tacitly or openly supportive of those that attack us? Why not give up some control to the U.N., put an Iraqi government in place, let the world compete for Iraqi oil and get out. "Sooner rather than later" will save the lives of our soldiers, our nation's wealth and America's prestige. From an "American interest" point of view it's apparent that the invasion and occupation was a mistake. The Mid East, like American and the West, does not take well to foreign "rule." If we had some viable alternative leadership in Iraq, we should have taken out Saddam and his kids some other way and left the infrastructure intact. As it stands now, we'll be worse off with an Iraq that is a haven for terrorists and we'll have to live with that for decades, but following invasion and occupation, what alternative do we have? It is a haven now, it will be in the future and we're creating more terrorists than we can find and kill. The only difference is that we're providing a target rich environment and a recruiting ground for them with our occupation. In either event we have no way of effectively controlling, limiting or defeating them. It's time to work smarter rather than harder. The thing that is so hard to accept regarding this misadventure, is that it didn't take a rocket scientist to have seen a huge probability of failure from the start. Given the amount of prestige, respect, money and people we have risked and are risking, there is no doubt that it was a criminally poor judgement call. The world knew it and now the American public is beginning to figure it out. You can't spin forever. Sooner or later reality has a way of hitting you right between the eyes...>>
