Great, just as I let my RS subscription lapse, they come out with a music article that would be worth reading. I'm curious about where Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton came out. I didn't know that Joan Jett was so highly regarded (though I really don't know her music at all) that she'd make the list and Bonnie Raitt wouldn't.

You and Rolling Stone have given me something new to think about when I listen. Thanks. So have the following lists I found by googling "100 guitarists" 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in opinion of sfloman geocities.com I include his list because it lists great songs which jog my memories. Top 100 Guitarists by Mojo Magazine (June 1996) & Other mojo lists rocklist.net Total Guitar's Top 100 (August, 2002) mattjohns.f9.co.uk voted by guitarists I am not sure musicians and listeners use the same criteria in judging who is the best.
