Just watched, accidentally, eating dinner later than usual because my wife is now making the trek into the city again, Chris Matthews on CNBC with Pat Caddell and Ann Coulter. Was surprised to see that as long as Matthews kept her off her bitterness and ideological stuff, she was fairly decent as a guest. And she worked well with Caddell who has no concerns for the TV oneliners and is thus interesting. You do have to think a minute about what he said, not necessarily because it has depth, but because he takes a lot of data into his sentences and then doesn't clean it all up before he spits it out. But I like that better than those sanitized sentences that have nothing to offer.

General conclusion. Bustamante has a strong shot because (a) Arnold's negatives are so high and (b) the right, McClintock, will stay in right up to the end. Coulter disagreed with that last point saying she thought he had sufficient political ambition to want to avoid giving the election to the dems if his staying in did so.

For someone who's not terribly interested in the Cal stuff, this was better than flat out boring.
