I'm not precisely certain where it goes from post to followup but I thought the summary that, assuming the anger at Summers is at the levels portrayed, and it easily could be quite a bit less because the article needed that level to make its case, but assuming that, for the moment, the anger most likely stems from the two sources mentioned--centralization, for all the obvious reasons, and the hard-soft distinctions which would be obvious to anyone in the social sciences, history, etc. And, as usual, Summers puts his foot in his mouth, by claiming the hards as progress.

It's not left/right but positivists/non-positivists.
