The brits and españoles were absolutely not in favour of their 'leaders' wagging along

Possibly true but as I have already noted not directly relevant to the point in question. If you are just trying to make a new point without discussing the old one that is fine too but it might be best if your intention was more clear.

you'll find in the UK and Spain, just like in the g.w.n. or Liechtenstein, that people prefer the rule of law, in place of rule by imperial Diktat from the back rooms of some foreign capital .... like, duh ... so that is what is 'wrong in being unilateral' - we'll only submit to it as long as you are able to force us, you are uniting the planet against yourselves

You didn't answer the question. "Unilateral", esp by the wide definition you are giving it, does not mean "rule by imperial Diktat". I did not and would not ask "what is wrong with rule by imperial Diktat", I asked what was wrong with unilateral action.

Tim

PNAC....?

I like this even better.........eh... amigo....

this posted by one of the more Liberal types on FADG, fell off his meds and got hit in the head with some reality......

The U.S. exercises more power, in more places, and in more ways (military, cultural, economic), than any other nation in history ever has. There are 200 "independant" nations on the planet, but for almost all of them, their sovereignty is heavily restricted, directly (by U.S. army, State Dept., our funding or threats not to fund various programs) or indirectly by U.S.-dominated organizations with global reach (IMF, World Bank, multinational corporations). The U.S. dollar is becoming the global currency, our Federal Reserve exercised power globally, English is becoming the global language, our Universities are where much of the elite of every other nation is trained. This concentration of power in one nation, is unprecedented. We are witnessing a unique historical event, something that has never existed before.

It is an exaggeration, but not much of one, to say that the U.S. government is the de facto world government, and the U.S. military is the world police.<b/>
