Hi Hawkmoon; Re: "I just read the other day that there are 44 homicides per day in the US.. Is that violent enough for you?"

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! LOL!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Hey, if there were 44 UN workers killed every day in the US, the whole shebang would be out of the country in a matter of hours.

Re: "I dare say that the International Red Cross is merely a fragile ghost of its historical state if they are going to run at the mere threat of terrorism."

The IRC wasn't targeted by either the Allies or the Germans in WW2. (I don't know about the Japanese.) Instead, the IRC did all kinds of important and useful things such as keeping track of PoWs and delivering aid packages to them. Consequently, comparing the balls of the current members to that of their WW2 versions is rather unfair. Admit the truth: If the Nazis had started killing IRC members, they'd have abandoned the country as quickly as they could.

Re: "It sets a precedent that all an organized criminal group has to do is threaten the local humanitarian organizations and they'll run away."

Why do you waste time with this crap? The fact is that if the "organized criminal" Nazi regime had started shooting up the Red Cross, they'd have pulled out of Europe post haste.

Re: "And such behavior can be replicated internationally, or domestically."

It's fairly unlikely in the US, since our population generally supports our government (unlike the Iraqi population which openly rebels against the occupation government), but the facts are that if a rebel group in the US started wasting IRC people, and it appeared that the incompetent authorities were not going to be able to put a stop to it, the group would pull out of the US. Your examples of the murder rates in US cities are a pathetic example of logic. Surely you can do better.
