If Iraq stays as it is, or slowly improves as I think likely, then it will fall off the news. News demands novelty.

Bush either asks for more US troops and faces those dilemmas or asks for international stuff and that's the UN.

I think more and more international troops will be going into the 'safe' areas - for example, Polish troops are going to take over Al Hillah - and the Americans will keep up the mopping-up operations in Baghdad and the Sunni triangle. Don't know what will happen with the UN stuff, there must be a lot of back-room dealing going on right now.
