baader meinhof gang members were killed one by one by authorities in Europe. Three of the last four, including baader committed suicide the same night in (as I recall) 1977. They shot themselves in the head using separate weapons. A fourth attempted to commit suicide with a knife the same night in the same prison. They were in Germany's most secure prison at the time. It was the day after GSG 9 and a coupla SAS guys took out the Mogadishu hijackers after they killed the pilot. There have been a lot of questions about how they got the weapons...some believe the defense lawyers brought them in.
