I think if we weighed the balance, we seem to have much more evidence of conflict between Iraq and Al Qaeda than cooperation. Many Muslims viewed Saddam as an 'evil Western secularist', a product of the US rather than a kindred Muslim. His entire regime was anti-theocratic, anti-fundamentalism, and could even be argued was anti-Islam.

It's ironic, though, that both Saddam and OBL got their early start and support from, you guessed it, the good ole USA...
