Complications from premature birth of my first born cost me almost 100K.....I paid the bill over ten years....and was glad I was able to get the care....never regretted it and never whined about it either.....he was worth every penny and more....I could not get insurance for that condition either....no one's fault....just the way it is.....insurance companies have to be free to manage their own risks to stay viable....

That at least was a rational complaint. However, I do not quite understand why it is acceptable to buy anything else on credit, but not health care. You wouldn't complain because it took "30 long years" paying off your mortgage, or "5 long years" paying off your car, you would be glad to be extended the credit, and pay it. Also, I do not know the situation 25 years ago, but nowadays you could probably buy a relatively cheap catastrophic care package, so that hospitalization was covered........
