I'm not sure about China overheating. I have read some pundits warning about this as a potential scenario but it hasn't yet happened, there is no data to support such a fact at the moment. Yet I think the concern is largely overreaction. I wonder what would happen if they let the currency float..

OTOH, china exchange rate is surely keeping US inflation in check, despite low rates.. better export inflation I say <g>

And by the way, Japan's problem was not currency induced. I see the Japanese problem as essentially solved. it was the JAP version of the US S&L crises on similar proportion but faced with a harsh public, unwillingly to bail out the problem banks and their loans. After 10 years of agony the pundits there (and the ordinary folks) are begging for this. Finally. The problem will soon be history..

On China I still argue why so many point to a problem, when actually it is not clear whether a problem exists at all..
