Had your rulers possessed the presence of mind to go through that old-fashioned and admittedly lengthy diplomatic process in forming at least a quorum of democracies, our combined forces might well be parked on Hussein's borders still, yes, but they would be combined

Or more likely a nearly identical coalition to the one that took down Sadam would still be waiting for support from "a quorum of democracies" that would never come.

'Let us reject the blinders of isolationism, just as we refuse the crown of empire. Let us not dominate others with our power -- or betray them with our indifference. And let us have an American foreign policy that reflects American character. The modesty of true strength. The humility of real greatness.'

If we had a few more countries in the coalition, if France or Germany had supported the invasion of Iraq, we still would have dominated the Iraqi regime with our power, and the power would still have been predominatly American. As for the crown of empire its ownly relevant if you think that the US will make Iraq in to part of an American empire.
