I've talked to a lot of Jews who have been offended- (over the course of my life- I didn't end up in a group of them all complaining about this). They were all too polite, or too intimidated, to say anything- but from Christmas pageants to invocations, they all seemed to have a horror story to tell, regarding the situation of being made to feel like an outsider. And I think the question we have to ask ourselves is, why? you aren't going to convert anyone by making them feel uncomfortable in a public place. The people who want those displays already believe- so is it really worth it to keep these displays merely to reinforce your own tribal identity?

If I were the PR gal for a religion, I'd be thinking of ways to make the agnostics and atheists comfortable in my church- after all, they represent the new market. The folks who believe have already bought the product.
