You could be right and this could be simply the idiosyncracies of one lone judge. But at every point the Enron case is judged by different standards or passes through different processes, that will raise deep suspicions about the degree to which the exchange of money and influence from Enron into the entire political system is, in some sense, moving things. Whether that's fair or not, the perception is there and will leap on anything that smells.
