It also teaches them to have pride in America. But, as far as your question: When a Democrat takes a pledge, their word is good for as far as you can throw them, because most Democrats are liars. When a Republican takes a pledge, you can count on their word. I should not have had to say this, because Republican honesty and integrity is understood without saying.
