started the thing when the wingers simultaneously lost their paper fortunes in tech stocks and got hard-ons imagining the possibility of Bush Junior winning -- or stealing -- the White House in the 2000 presidential election.

It is a sad commentary on the State of the State, when SI is relegated to little more than a coffee shop talk thread. I'll be glad after the 2004 elections when we can all go back to discussing individual stocks and companies.
