That is true, in my opinion. What is illogical is that the government seems to regard NASA's overfed, bureaucratic and cultural shortcomings (dangers, to be sure) as less damning than those demonstrated by the FBI, et al.

The Columbia investigation merely serves to point up how awful the Bush Team have been on the 9/11 investigation.

I fully agree...

Thanks for catching my drift.

It serves nothing towards that point, actually. "The Columbia investigation merely serves to point up how awful the Bush Team have been on the 9/11 investigation."

The bureaucratic layers of the FBI and NASA are entirely different animals. NASA's screw-ups have had nothing to do with partisanship, and are near exclusively issues of contractors and upper-mgmt. arcing across field personnel who actually knew what's happening. The various mishaps dating back into Mercury, Gemini and Apollo demonstrate that this is not a "party in power" issue. The FBI, however, is an entirely different structure with few contractor dependancies of this nature. There's about zero connection between the two.

I suspect, however, you'll find a way to wrangle Bush into such things as the Patagonia Naval Disaster of 1897, as per your want. And, how 'bout all them damned locusts in Egypt way back when... and the mysterious melting point of the WTC's steel? Or the victims' lists that say "victims" (not perpetrators)?
