The rising budget deficit and national debt hangs like a big cloud over the economic recovery. There will be a temporary recovery because of the massive amount of fiscal and monetary stimulus but the debt problem will be a drag on the recovery. Whoever wins the 04 election has a huge problem in the deficit.
