Nixon......masterminding the Dem. Headquarters break in; McCarthy......of instigating a withhunt and falsely accusing other Americans of treason. Neither was "found guilty" of those things. Esp. Nixon because there is little to suggest that he masterminded any break in. (But a lot to suggest that he tried to cover it up later). One of the principals in the breakin just confirmed recently that Nixon was the mastermind. You do not have to go to trial to be guilty of a crime. You don't have to go to trial to BE guilty, you do to be found guilty. Okay, Nixon was thought to BE guilty. And his offered resignation suggests that he was guilty. How's that? ted
