Kind of like the people who say, "in the foreseeable future..." Another one is discrete and discreet. Makes we wonder if we're talking trysts or math here?

I'm sure you'll take this in the positive spirit in which it's intended - there is no possessive it's. The only time that an apostrophe is used in conjunction with "its" is when the usage is as a contraction of "it is" - i.e. it's. Unfortunately, this particular grammatical faux-pas is deeply embedded in the mass consciousness, along with my particular favorites, "criteria" as a singular noun, "myriad" as a noun and endless repetition's (ha!) of "'s" for a plural noun.
