The Halliburton deals are so outrageous, that they border on treason, IMO.

The projects undertaken by Halliburton are not the run of the mill pork barrel projects to be given to the friends and contributors of the president and his party. They are vital projects whose early success is a key ingredient to rescuing Iraq from a future that can potentially be worse than Saddam, both for Iraq as well as the US. The security situation in Iraq makes the movement of Halliburton employees almost impossible, and hence their work highly inefficient. Moreover, their approach at reconstruction, which is to use the latest and greatest technology for reconstruction (how else can they justify the billions?), pushes the solution of the problems way into the future, thus greatly aggravating the difficulty of winning the hearts and minds of Iraqis.
