I had read on his website 10k minimum.

LOL on the lean hog thing. Although the hog thing wouldn't be all that bad if I had 5000 bushels of corn I was trying to get rid of <G>.

interesting thoughts...i asked a friend of mine if he'd rather be given a house (he already has one so i guess he'd rent the gift out) worth $ 250k or have an equivalent amount of oil stored for him for free for as long as he wants to hopefully enjoy a capital gain.

he said he'd rather have the house.

at the end of the day, what options are there ? owning a business, speculating in the market or commodities, holding cash and getting puny returns...

wouldn't owning commodities outright through such a fund be maybe an off-the-wall and controversial but possibly an alternative to holding cash in money market accounts ?
