Ted, You know I really think someone like Bill Gates of MSFT fame is politically conservative but socially liberal.

There are far too many issues where being a fiscal conservative and a social liberal don't mix. Welfare is one. Funding abortions (not the legality thereof) is another. Supporting the interests of unions over businesses is yet another.

If you're honest about your beliefs, you would put your money where your mouth is. Giving lip service to social liberalism without actually funding it is empty. Vice-versa, saying your fiscally conservative means you'll have to make painful choices in what social programs you keep (something Ah-nuld will discover very soon).
