Materials are aplenty. Since 1989 Der Spiegel had full page advertising for an association of cement producers. Too much constution was going up with glass and aluminum.

Recycling that started 'com gusto' in the last 15 years or so added more old stuff that can be re-used.

Al started with the Germans who have been blocked in two world wars, had no colonies and invented the chemical industry. No more natural dyes, natural rubber and even had synfuel developed.

With the prospect of importing the natural stuff from develioping countries, the rich countries preferred to plant their own food. Wear man made fiber and constrcut with plastic.

Today the situation isn't good. The aluminum camp has been very agressive and have taken a lot of the market for copper.

Copper is a big loser. Power companies are using aluminum and telecoms is using optical fiber and wireless. My friend who went to NY is no longer working for ABB I discovered. He is now defending the copper industry, which has lost market and need to reover.

From being a costly material, copper was replaced in many industries and now has to fight back.
