Chaotic, Deadly Day for Charlie Company Re "A Deadly Day for Charlie Company," Aug. 26: I last wore the uniform nearly 40 years ago, but I got really mad when I read the poignant story told by the guys who survived the first few days in Iraq, about what President Bush, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, et al, are doing to my Marine Corps. They not only lied to us about the real reason for invading Iraq; they tried to do it on the cheap. No armor for the "tracks." Fuel-short tanks diverted on a rescue mission. Weak batteries. Lousy communications. Pictures of 18 good Marines killed — for what? CC
