You have substituted a straw man for the argument.

Actually, I do think that the justice system works most of the time. It is a human system, and therefore by definition imperfect. Certainly it can be criticized. But so far I have never seen any other country's justice system which I think did a better job of balancing the protection of individual liberties with the needs of the public at large.

Many, if not most, of the problems with our judicial system arise from three causes. First, massive societial inequalities and inequities. Second, poor lawmaking, criminalizing behaviors which should not be criminalized (such as personal and private drug use) and thereby causing huge amounts of unnecessary crime. Third, weaknesses in law enforcement. The judicial system can't do much, if anything, about any of those. Under those constraints, it works very well.
