Mr. Albert Gerry reports
SAMPLING PROVIDES POSITIVE RESULTS AT COTTONWOOD PEAK NEVADA
Zappa Resources has expanded its area of gold discovery at its Cottonwood
Peak property located in the Tuscarora Mountains, Elko county, Nevada. Grab
and channel sampling continues to provide positive results. Zappa optioned
100-per-cent working interest in Cottonwood Peak from Altair Mineral Corp.
of Oregon because of the large altered rock formation depicted from
satellite imagery. The first rock outcrop tested within this large alterted
rock signature structure produced a grab sample of seven grams of gold per
metric ton and was followed up with six other random samples for
conformation. The six rocks samples confirmed the presence of significant
gold with one to 10 grams of gold per metric ton.
The discovery outcrop (S1C), was recently (Aug. 14) sampled by Jim Tuner,
PGeo, an independent geologist. Chip samples from the discovery outcrop in
one-metre intervals ran as high as 6.21 grams per metric ton. The east-west
channel average over five metres is 3.08 grams per metric ton gold.
Overburden is not deep and subcrop is abundant. No subcrop was sampled. The
mineralization is associated with strong alternation over a wide area.
Alteration minerals include scorodite, realgar (arsenic), stibnite
(antimony), cinnibar (mercury) and clay minerals. The sampling will now be
extended as the showing is open to both the east and west within the
identifiable altered structure.
Noteworthy is additional prospecting resulted in finding a second outcrop
(S3C) 392 metres or 1,286 feet north of the first showing. Here all four
random grab samples tested positive and fire assayed at 4.89, 1.22, 3.19
and 1.40 grams of gold per ton. Additional conformation sampling is under
way.
In addition a third rock outcrop (S7C) was discovered on the side of an old
switch back trail 848 meters or 2,700 feet north and along strike of the
discovery outcrop (S1C). This showing is identical altered rock type rock
that comprises the first showing to the south. The distinctive mineralized
rock structure ran over 100 metres in width. One grab sample to date has
been fire assayed from this showing and assayed at 1.8 grams gold per ton.
Management is extremely encouraged with its early success of meeting its
objective. The company has identified the location of a large altered
structure within a favourable geological setting in the Tuscarora
Mountains. The company's preliminary conclusion is finely disseminated gold
mineralization occurs in a near or at surface environment, possibly related
to leakage of a deeper Carlin model. The target is a large tonnage
disseminated gold deposit similar to Jerritt Canyon that is located 17
kilometres or nine miles directly east of the Cottonwood Peak claims.
Further prospecting, geological mapping and sampling will be completed as
soon as possible in preparation for a drilling program.
