'wishful thinking' - yes it probably is, i don't think men this petty and narrow-minded have either the wisdom to see their mistake, or the guts to admit it ..... it's useful however in seeing the core of the problem - they are trying to hand the Rest of Us a situation where we are damned if we do, and damned if we don't, and we have to avoid encouraging this act, we can't get sucked down their sewer with them

It's all academic really - they've got control of US military and the taxpayers, they're going to do what they want and they're not going to start listening at this late stage, it wouldn't be in character .... they're going to put in more troops who aren't prepared for the effort, who don't want to be there, and who don't even speak the language ... it's just the way it is, a relentless slide into the Viet Nam du jour, as Carl points out

But get the apology/contrition idea front and centre, who knows, maybe there's a chance ... Bush quit the booze at forty, they say, maybe he can quit the dominance self-delusion at this age .... all it would take is the huevos to just say hey we've screwed up bad, but we promise to be better allies in the future, so how about helping us out guys

Juntos Podemos <--- tell him that, lol, he claimed once to know what it means
