this thing about 'piracy' must really scare the so-called 'producers' and 'agents'... the ones who don't actually perform but who nonetheless make money off of the performers... it's almost stereotypical... the story of the broke artist and the fat-cat agent... some people say hendrix was murdered because he was beginning to catch on to how he had been screwed over financially...

just because we have patent and copyright laws doesn't mean that these words - written in law books by arbitrary and capricious human beings - are 'in tune' with the 'reality' of the universe...

the thing with magnetic and optical media... that's uncharted territory...

as for literature, it's interesting that you can check it out from a library but you can't make photocopies...

many people say that the current system of intellectual property laws is literally the 'bulwark of western civilization...'

i don't quite buy that... some people call me communist...

as for music, it makes sense to me that musicians should only be paid when they perform... if someone can make copies of their music... big deal... like i said, some people call that communism...

go figure

i do have one fairly certain idea.. when an artist gets paid to perform... they're no longer making 'pure' art but have entered to greater or lesser degree into the realm of 'commercial' art...

some of us come to conclusions on all of life's 'issues'... some of us simply never know for certain
