Hi DJ,

Just been watching this wonderful program on TV

news.bbc.co.uk

But earlier today I completed the first step in a most nefarious act. The stealing of the only known copy in the world of this book..

"The Hard Sell" by Trevor Pinch and Colin Clark.

ISBN 0-00.638465-X

This job has been in planning for years. I have many posts on SI discussing my obtaining a copy of this book and I have offered reasonable financial awards for a copy in good condition. No luck.

It was in my local library and I have taken it out several times in the past. In fact I can confirm it's only me who takes it out. I tried to barter with the library.. Could I buy the book? Answer... absolutely not! Trouble is, as it's a little used book it might be just chucked out, and they cannot tell me when except that its soon.

Well guess what. It's in my possession right now and... IT'S NOT GOING BACK! I'm gonna STEAL IT. I will phone the library about a week from now and tell them I accidently chucked it in the trash. (I will put it in the trash to stay honest, just I will omit when I took it out again) OH sooooo sorry, what is the cost to the library? I am willing to pay for the costs involved.

more updates later... (unless the British Library Police get me first) -g-
