The rhetoric is mostly home grown, just hyperbolized. You've read tirades against the US for "wiping out the Native Americans" right here on FADG. Also don't forget, "we created Saddam and gave him all his weapons of mass destruction", and "we created bin Laden and armed him with Stingers." The stuff about drinking blood and cannabalism is something that always get said during wars - for thousands of years - cutting babies from their mothers' wombs, tossing fetuses around like footballs, bayonetting small children, smashing babies heads against walls and dashing out their brains, all standard features of the Propaganda Department. Do people believe it? Of course. How many people believe in UFOs? How many believe that Elvis is still alive? Words, words, endless words.
