Yes. Since W. Wilson, this has been what America does. From WWI, to WWII to the Cold War, to the new Post Cold War; the U.S. has used its military against fascism, communism and other democidal regimes. Where was the imminent threat to the United States, when U.S. troops were sent/ or fought in France in WWI, or North Africa (in WWII), or Korea, or Beruit, or Vietnam, or Somolia, or Haiti, or Bosnia, or Kosovo, or Afghanistan, or now Iraq?

Please, let's keep the facts straight. We entered WWI late and begrudgingly. We had very little interest in fighting an Old World war. In fact, after the war was over, we went into a period of deep isolationism for nearly 20 years.

With WWII, we were attacked by Japan. Then, and only then, did we decide to enter the war. It was after this war that the US began to see itself as policeman to the world.

And that began a steady stream of wars over the remaining years of the 20th century. In every one of those wars, starting with the Korean War, we would participate in a war under the auspices of the UN, or NATO, or SEATO or by invitation from the specific country under attack.

That all changed with Iraq.......that war was pre-emptive! And you wonder why some people think oil has something to do with it!

Only the United States has sent significant numbers of troops facing death in defense of individual human rights on such a scale. What significant economic interest does the United States have in Haiti, Bosnia, Kosovo, or Vietnam? But suddenly now that it's Iraq - its about the oil.

If all those other wars were pre-emptive, you point would be well made. However, they were not pre-emptive wars; only Iraq was.

The same people that complain about American "interference" in Democidal regimes - also complain, when America turns a blind eye to Democide and pretends everything is "business as usual".

There is no such word as democide. Do you mean genocide?

Were you against the "interfering in another country's business", in the case of Apartheid South Africa?

Yes, of course. Everyday, there are atrocities committed in every corner of this planet. To think that the US can handle all those problems effectively would suggest we are suffering from meglomania.
