some more info:re: XP comp not participating on network

XP PRO
gets IP fine from DHCP (192.168.100.8)
cannot ping 192.168.100.1 after succussful assignment
can "repair" just fine

Norton's log says something about all comm. with network being blocked as a rule (yes, i've tried this with Norton Internet turned off)

I've tried the - go around to every comp and put the XP system disk in and perform other tasks - home network thing but that also doesnt make a diff

i remember when i couldnt get my XP laptop on the network last Jan i had the same type of isssue and i got it working when i created a bridge

unfortuantly it wont let me make a bridge because it says i need two connections without sharing and firewall ( i have firewall turned off)

man this sucks
