The American involvement in the Second World War was completely pre-emptive. The US carrier fleet had survived Pearl Harbor and immediately moved on to attack the Japanese Empire in the Solomon and Coral seas (strangely enough, the "Battle of the Coral Sea" was fought in the Solomon Sea). The probability of a Japanese or German invasion of the US was ZERO.

I can hear the "Red Dean" and his anti-American media lap dogs now. We wouldn't have listened to him in 1941. We would be dumb to listen to him today...

re:"If all those other wars were pre-emptive, your point would be well made..."

Indeed, Kosovo was pre-emptive. President Clinton, did not want to see another Bosnia, which led to the air war against Yugoslavia.

Kosovo was not pre emptive. In that war, we participated as a member of the NATO alliance. NATO's European members were worried that the fighting in Kosovo would destabilize that portion of Europe.

Vietnam was fought, largely to halt the expansion of Communism - because Kennedy believed in the domino theory (at least, that's what he said).

The Domino theory was started by D. Eisenhower. As it turns out, the theory was better left a kid's game. However, we entered the war as a member of SEATO, an Asian alliance, and were invited by the S. Vietnamese to assist them in their fight with the north.

re:"There is no such word as democide."

Democide may not be a word in the dictionary, but it is being used by Universities and their publications:

There are a ton of words in the dictionary.........why not stick with them?!
