Rolling Stone has done articles on the drug cartels of Mexico, and how US domestic pot demand affects poor rural Mexicans forced into virtual slavery.

The drug war makes this worse. RJ Reynolds would put the cartels out of business, overnight. Legalization isn't politically viable, though, for obvious reasons.
