Let me give another view of that. I've been to Saudi. I was over there on a business trip about 10 years ago, for a large American company you've certainly heard of.

The Saudis treated me quite well and were invariably well mannered and polite. They helped me get my job done as much as was in their power. It was my own American management that worried me. They were sleazeball scumbags who cheated the Saudis and I had to be part of it. I did let the Saudis know that what I was doing was being forced unwillingly down my throat by some jerks back in the US. They understood that I had no real choice.

Two weeks after I got back to the US, I quit that company.

And there are born and bred American kids who steal bikes.
