you can't look at overall numbers, I'm sure you know that. We have lost about half the jobs we used to have in silicon valley, these were $100K positions I am talking about, not including stock option money which was a bonanza. I myself know of people who were once engineers working in SV who are now employed at grocery stores, daycare centers you name it for 40K tops. This is common at least in the north of the state.
