If the people in New Zealand had DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulopathy) seems like the news reports should have mentioned that, as it is significant. People with DIC have a tendency to bleed out of any place there is a wound and have thrombosis and organ failure. You can get DIC from a lot of different viruses, like Hanta and Ebola, as well as bacterial infections like plague. I worked on a case where a kid got it from Epstein Barr syndrome, but he was immune-suppressed due to a kidney transplant. It took him a long time to die. Other zebras are smallpox, tularemia, lassa, marburg . . . .

Henry, you should give Tim Blackmore a call and email him that stuff. They'll need all the help they can get [from people who actually know stuff]. He'd appreciate the call and it will have quietened down on his cellphone now. But they have still not announced any idea what's gone on with those three dead people. Nor whether the medical people treating them [and their corpses] who got 'flu' had related illnesses. Mqurice
