Hello zwolff,

> so who was originally behind Vultus?

I just wanted to clarify that although I am a part of the Vultus team that was acquired, the team is far more than I.

During my last two years (after leaving Novell for the fourth time) I was doing a lot of R&D in my own lab, and consulting to various companies around the country. During that consulting I was introduced to a local Utah company - formed by ex-Novell contractors - that had created some of the most amazing technologies that I had seen at that time. On top of that, they work using some of the most advanced XP and Agile development methodologies! I have to give credit to one of the most amazing engineering teams that I have worked with.

I ended up working with them to develop tactics and strategies to move the technology - WebFace - into the web services realm, and then explore numerous potential markets. During this time we met with various companies around the country - and even Novell who has groups that really like it - and we learned a lot. As we evolved the solution into it's fourth generation, we realized that a more powerful abstraction existed for what we had created ... and that we could truly offer something valuable to an operating system company.

The SCO Group execs saw the value in our company in the people, the methodologies, and the strategy. It's a good fit ...

The coolest part of it all was the 4-6 weeks that I spent studying the entire history of UNIX, and relating that to the decade-plus of time that I spent with Novell. A lot of analysis allowed me to see various future possibilities that exist ... and so now we are pursuing some of these. We have the same great Vultus team, now coupled with some incredible talent that developed UNIX.

So far ... it's a fun game. I look forward to the future ... it's going to be an amazing one!
