Verizon Wireless signs $1 bln contract with Nortel

CHICAGO, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. wireless operator, said on Wednesday it signed a
multiyear agreement with equipment maker Nortel Networks Corp. (Toronto:NT.TO - News; NYSE:NT - News) worth
an estimated $1 billion for wireless infrastructure technology.

Verizon Wireless, owned by Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ - News) and Vodafone Group Plc (London:VOD.L -
News), said the contract is for expansion and upgrade equipment for its nationwide, next-generation voice and data
network.
This news is giving NT a nice boost this morning. larry
