Good news from Mass. They have gone to "Immersion" on language in school. I watched the "bilingual" boondoggle in California for years. It was a real racket for the teachers involved, and the kids never did become good English speakers.

The new immersion law replaced bilingual education, in which students were taught in their native tongues and gradually made the transition to English classes over a period of several years. As many as 50,000 of the Bay State's 993,000 public school students have limited English; most could end up in English-only classrooms this week. Massachusetts is the third state in the nation where voters adopted such a law, after California in 1998 and Arizona in 2000.
