"The ability to cut of cheap ME oil is the ultimate terror weapon. Don't think for a minute that the militants haven't thought about that aspect of things. It's an area in which I feel we are horribly vulnerable."
We along with the rest of the developed are vulnerable to that. But we are more vulnerable with Saddam gone than we were with him as severely contained as he was before the invasion. There were other diplomatic initiatives we could have taken to even more severely contain him with losing him as security blanket in Iraq and without alienating countries which ought to be allies. But we had to be THE top dog, instead of just the Top Dog, if you get my drift.

Gotta go now.

You just don't get it. I'm not talking about restraint in killing (although killing good targets, and targeting countries correctly would be nice, imo). I'm talking about a little emotional restraint- in terms of our reaction to things (not our military reaction- our pr reaction, our collective touchy feely reaction, if you will). You simply aren't reading my posts, or you aren't reading what's actually in them correctly. I've no idea which.
