"DCOM is Safely Disabled on this System

Port 135 is Open, but DCOM is not Answering

With DCOM disabled, this system is safe from the possibility of remote DCOM exploitation -- now or in the future. Port 135 is probably being held open by the Windows Task Scheduler or the Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC), which share this port with DCOM. You almost certainly have no need for the Distributed Transaction Coordinator, but the Task Scheduler may be performing important periodic maintenance work for your system. But in any event, DCOM itself is no longer active so you're in good shape."

looks like Fred Langa's LangaList makes mention of Gibson's handy utility...

"Like Steve's other offerings, the DCOMbobulator is tiny, fast, free, and efficient: It downloads in a flash, and does just what Steve says (above). Plus, it explains what it's doing, and why; and offers an ultra-easy way to reverse the changes, if you should ever need or want to. Nice!"
