FL, I did think total genocide of all professing to be Moslems was rather dire punishment for a child 'stealing' [which was obviously more like a presumptuous borrowing than theft] a bicycle and something else.

Henry Wah [a child about my age, or maybe a year or so younger] stole my bike when I was about 10 and Mum went around to his place and asked for it back [I forget how we knew he had it, but it was an easy one to figure out].

Then, when he was around one day, or passing by, [I forget how come], she invited him inside, gave him some ice-cream and in her persuasive way educated him a little on the ways of civilized society.

A single friendly gesture didn't turn him into a candidate for papal infallibility, but I'm sure he was drawn a little further into the human realm. He seemed okay.

I don't recall her thinking it a good idea to kill all Wahs, or Henries, or Chinese, or Chinese/Maori mixes, or people living in his street, or males, or shortish people, or stocky people, or curly headed people, or New Zealanders, or whatever religion his parents espoused [if any].

I doubt that doing so would have reduced bicycle stealing. Well, it might have done, but it would have reduced a lot more besides.

If all bicycle-stealing children were killed, I think the USA population would be reduced somewhat too.

FL, Ish isn't a bad guy. Actually, he's a pretty good one. Everyone makes a harsh statement every now and then. How about turning that into, say, a week long suspension?
